GfG is continuing to grow and flourish as we pour into the lives of our young girls. This past year was exciting because our enrollment of mentees increased by over 43% and mentor enrollment increased by 30%. Our goal is to have each of our 25 girls matched with a one-to-one mentor during the course of the year. Our mentees and mentors participated in a variety of events including the EYO STEM Conference at the College of Mt St. Vincent, leadership workshops, public speaking workshops facilitated by Janice Saunders from One Jazzy Life, Emotional Intelligence Workshop for Parents and Mentors facilitated by Dr. Migdalia Maldonado Torres, shadowing women in under-represented fields at the New York Power Authority, MLK Institute for Non-Violence, A trip to see the Nativity at John Jay College, Black Woman-Girl Child hosted by Sister to Sister, Int., Financial Aid 101 for Parents, presented by Mark Stephens, Director of Financial Aid at Pace University, Black Girls Rock Conference with Beverly Bonds - just to name a few.
Ordinary people can do extraordinary things, with a little help!”
